Rudy Mercado was born in Van Nuys California, United States, in 1962. Rudy relocated to Madrid, Spain and he's been dedicated to working in the Spanish Film Industry as a scenic artist, doing everything from Romanesque frescoes to portraits and "Mondrians". |

In 1986 Mercado began his career as a set painter in Film, Television, Advertising and Theater. Some of the films where his work stands out are: "BOYZ IN THE HOOD" by John Singelton, «DARKMAN» by Sam Raimi, "UNSTRUNG HEROS" by Diane Keaton, «GOYA EN BURDEOS» by Carlos Saura, «KINGDOM OF HEAVEN» by Ridley Scott, «PAN`S LABYRINTH» by Guillermo del Toro, «THE IMPOSSIBLE» by J. A. Bayona and «THE MOTHER» by Niki Caro. As producer and director, Mercado debuted with his documentary «LA NOCHE TRISTE» about the conquest of Mexico. It was broadcast on Televisión Española in Spain. In development, «CALIFORNIA SUN» The Bobby Fuller Four Story is Mercado’s feature debut as Producer,Director, Screenwriter, and Art Director.
