Description |
The group of prints depicts four roundel drawings, each with a different Biblical theme. The first two roundels depict scenes from the Book of Esther - one of two crowned figures on a dais (Esther 2:17); the other of the King reaching out to Queen Esther (Esther 15:10-11). The image from the Book of Judith depicts Judith showing the severed head of Holofernes to the Israelites (Judith 13:19). The image from II Kings depicts King David playing the lyre as he escorts the Ark into Jerusalem (II Kings 6:5). The titles, artists' signatures and Biblical quotations are printed underneath each image. The drawings were originally in the Dawson Collection from George Washington High School.
