Description |
The boots have metal clips with rubber soles. They are housed in a plexiglass box that measure 16"h x 16"w x 16"d (display). A small card in front of the display reads: "Reportedly worn by Admiral Byrd at the South Pole". Condition: Poor. The boots are extremely worn. The animal hide boots have dry rot and delamination of the hide from the what looks like a natural textile like cotton backing. Both have been improperly stuffed with newspapers and have no distinct shape. The top of the boots have folded over and formed creases overall. The metal clips are undone and show light corrosion. The rubber soles are stable, there appears to be a paint splatter on rear of the right boot. |
