Description |
The painting is a large-scale mural of a stylized sun god walking above a landscape. It measures 96"h x 444"w (actual). "The title is from a song written by St. Francis of Assisi in 1225. In the mural a man walks across the sky above a peaceful landscape of plowing farmers and shepherds tending to their flocks." According to Rodney Engen, a London art consultant and book dealer, Nielsen was a major figure whose illustrations for such classic children's books as "Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales" (1924) Nielsen had come to Los Angeles in the 1930s to design a production of "Everyman" at the Hollywood Bowl.
