The painting depicts a group of people disembarking from a ship, carrying all their belongings. As they pass in front of a seated Liberty figure, the immigrants become more acclimated to American life and are shown listening to a minister. An inscription on Liberty's pedestal reads: "And God hath made of one/blood all nations of men/to dwell on the face of the Earth". Description Modified: 7/28/2010 |
