Description |
The sculpture is a bas-relief in a wood frame depicting a woman, dressed in ancient dress and raising her right arm above her head. The title is written in the upper right corner. The artist was a student at Lincoln HS and was asked by the Principal, Mr. Andrus, to create this. The artist reported that the title "Torch of Knowledge" was meant as a symbol for women, who "held the bright light of knowledge in their hands." Lincoln has an award named after Conjecta Troncale called the Conjeta Troncale Art Award and it is given to graduating seniors to honor their work and dedication to the arts. The award is sponsored by her family. Description Modified: 9/21/2022 |
