Description |
The painting depicts a young, dark-haired woman wearing a green v-necked dress and playing with three black cats. It is framed in a dark wood frame measuring 47-1/2 x 57-1/4 inches. A small brass plate affixed to the frame reads: "Public Works of Art Project". GSA inventory number FA20633. "Courtesy of the Fine Arts Collection U.S. General Services Administration". On May 17, 1934, the Gardena Valley News reported that Cats At Play entered the GHS collection soon after it was included in a Public Works of Art Project exhibition at the Los Angeles Museum or works by Southern California artists. The committee of the PWAP of the 14th Regional District presented it as a gift to the school. Description Modified: 8/18/2022 |
