The cover is decorated with a small figure of a bird. The ewer was originally part of the collection of Venice High School. According to an inventory conducted in 1988, the ewer is a "two-stoppered Etruscan itcher made of buchero (black clay) circa 400-500 B.C. It has the face of a person on the front and a single handle on the back of the neck. The circle on the mouth has been pinched to make three 2/3 circles. The top stopper is the gifure of a bird (chicken?)." The piece is #3 on the inventory list. Description Modified: 7/28/2010 |
