Description |
The print depicts an amusement park, with a roller coaster, ferris wheel and carousel all depicted in a multi-colored pattern. The print is framed in a dark wood frame measuring 25-1/2 x 19-1/2 inches .Signed in the upper right corner, and also has an inscription that reads: "To the boys and girls of Castelar - Leo Politi 1976". It depicts The Pike, an amusement park and arcade located along the shoreline of Long Beach, California, which operated from 1902 until its closure and demolition in 1979. The major attraction featured rides like the Cyclone Racer roller coaster and a grand bath house called The Plunge. Politi donated many pieces to LAUSD schools and it is assumed this is a gift from the artist, circa 1976. |
