Description |
The group of prints depicts four drawings for cornices, each depicting a different evangelist. "John" depicts a young man holding a pen in his left hand, sitting on an eagle. "Matthew" depicts an older, bearded man holding a blank book and staring at a wooden cross. "Luke" depicts a balding man sitting on a bull, holding a scroll and staring at a picture of Jesus and the Virgin Mary. "Mark" depicts a man holding a tablet, seated near a lion's head. The drawings were originally in the Dawson Collection from George Washington High School. The titles are printed below the images. Description Modified: 7/28/2010 |
