Description |
The watercolor depicts a military airplane parked on a glacier, with groups of people working around the plane. The painting is titled in the lower right corner. It is matted and framed in a gilded frame measuring 34-1/4 x 28-1/2 inches. An inscription on the back of the frame reads: "Presented to Dorothy _____ Beaumont/by the Artist Arthur Beaumont/300 No. Bowling Green Way/LA CA Jan 1960". A note from Martha Feutz attached to the back of the frame reads: "The painting of Arthur Beaumont (watercolor) painted at the South Pole which was in the collection of Millikan Jr. High. It was sent by Millikan to the 3rd Street Annex - no frame, between 2 pieces of cardboard. Martha Feutz had a frame made and has had it until Mr. Merle Price agreed to take charge of it - (the Third Street Annex Art is to be moved.) Returned July 24 (2002?) at Mr. Price's office.
