Description |
Hemispherical ribbed body on squat stem over disc foot, vertical ring handles on either side, polychrome band of leaves below lip, painted white between ribs (John Kovacs Appraisals, 6/16/08). The cup has a rounded body on a small foot, with a ring handle is on either side of the cup. A band of small leaves is placed just below the rim, and the ribs are painted in white. This piece was originally part of the collection of Venice High School. According to an inventory conducted in 1988, the cup is "from Southern Italy 5th Century B.C. (Greek) Incused vertical ribs with indentations, in white slip - unbroken…total cup is black across mouth of bowl, 2 opposed handles." The piece is #116 on the inventory list.
