Description |
The student model was Jerome Reynolds, Alumni Winter 1938. A boy sits with his left knee drawn up and his right arm resting on it. He is holding a book in his right hand. The boy holds a globe to his left hip. He sits on a two-tiered base with the inscription: "WPA/Federal Art Project/1937". Courtesy Fine Art Collection U.S. General Services Adminstration. School records indicate the statue was a gift from the Winter Class of 1937. Formerly located on the school’s front lawn, the sculpture "represents the scholastic interests as well as the athletic accomplishments of young people today" (Wells, p. 25.
